42 in. round barrel, walnut stock, mostly iron mounts, two sling swivels, the lockplate with eagle over US before the hammer and SPRING /FIELD/1835 behind the hammer; US on butt tang; lock with brass pan; inspector's "S" on second barrel band and sideplate; "CB" on trigger guard; brown finish to barrel; shallow "1862" carved into the right side of the butt.
