.69 caliber, 42 in. round barrel marked U.S. to left of percussion nipple and above JM over P, dated 1843 on tang and fitted with an elevated sight; the lockplate with eagle over L. POMEROY before the hammer and 1841 / U.S behind the hammer; the trigger guard tang with a "B" and the buttplate tang with "U.S."; the walnut stock having iron mounts and stamped with inspectors' cartouches "EB" and "WOT" on the left flat, "HT" behind the tigger guard tang, and "S 13" on the top of the butt.
