Vernon Broe is one of the most well-known marine artists who lived and practiced in New England, particularly prolific in his painting on the coasts of Maine and Massachusetts. He was born in Illinois, and studied at the American Academy of Art, the University of Illinois, Chicago’s Institute of Design, and the San Francisco Art Institute.
