England, 1868-69, Aesthetic Movement, composed of a two piece server with a brown glazed ground, molded in the round with game animals between leafy floral clusters divided by winged Griffin handles. The cover features a pair of quail and the dish retains its original insert. Registry mark is impressed on the underside.
DOA 7 1/2 x 10 3/4 x 7 in.
The dish is presented in "Majolica A Complete History" by Karmason & Stacke, p.75 and a similar example sold at Sothebys March 1997.
Good condition; slight flea bites to inner insert dish rim.
