The Barbaros were both important scholars in Venice. The great uncle, Ermolao (Hermalao) Barbaro is known for his important translations of Aristotle's works in the late 15th century. The nephew, Daniele Barbaro, was an author, architect, and cleric whose portrait was painted by several famous artists of the Renaissance, including Veronese and Titian. He is well-known for his contributions to two of his great uncle's works, including this edition of the commentaries on Rhetoric.

Light foxing, toning, and stains, and small tears to paper boards; sturdy binding; occasional writing; pages with damp staining, light staining and toning, slight waviness; small wormholes in (1) corner of B2-C; small losses at tail of several pages not impacting text. A good copy of this important edition.
