An important early discussion of food, including when foods are in season, daily foods to eat, food for health, and more. The full title states that it is "a very useful work for everyone." According to Bitting, "This is one of the most famous Italian 16th century cookery books" (403).

Wear to vellum including cracking at joint and slight worming at spine; manuscript writing on front and rear free endpaper (the latter written upside down), title page, and Aaa8. Title page with substantial loss impacting device, with subsequent repair; near complete separation of vellum from textblock; expected internal foxing and toning, staining, with damp staining at rear pages; tears at endpapers and with small wormholes and chips at rear endpapers.
