From the Collection of Professor Roberto Severino, Washington, D.C. Aldus Manutius the Younger was the grandson of Aldus Manutius and he took over the Aldine Press from his father Paulus after his death. In this book he discusses the life of Castruccio Castracani degli Antelminelli (1281-1328), a condottiere and Duke of Lucca. Castracani's life inspired many writers and scholars besides Manutius, including Machiavelli.
Scuffs and edgewear to boards, front board detached, cracking at rear joint, spine rubbed with faded label and chips at head and tail; (3) stickers on paste-down including bookplate of Wilmot, Earl of Lisburne, manuscript on free endpaper, ink marks on title page; pages lightly toned and foxed, light damp staining at one corner throughout with additional damp staining on A1 and several other pages, (2) pages with small loss, occasional small edge chips or tears.
