Carved wood with pigments, a seated figure of the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara (Guanyin in Chinese), wearing a tiered crown with jewels, necklace and bracelets and dressed in flowing loose silk fabirc robe, seated in the position of “royal ease” the bodhisattva leans on one arm with one knee raised to rest his long gracefully extended arm, the figure, also known as the Compassionate and Merciful One, is still and composed, comes together with a tall custom black base.
