Caswell County, North Carolina, circa 1840, mahogany, mahogany veneer, poplar and white pine secondary, applied backsplash with book-matched figured mahogany veneers, the case with two distinctive drawers having banded edges and convex panel, over three hinged paneled doors, divided interior at the far left door, interior with shaped shelves, paneled sides, S-scroll stiles, scrolled front feet, rear straight feet from the stile.

Accompanied by a 1974 Courier-Times article which highlights the Cuningham home with architectural details and furnishings by Thomas Day, of which this sideboard descended.

Top with shrinkage cracks, finish inconsistency and old dark stains; scattered small areas of veneer loss; both sides of the case with shrinkage cracks; marring to the bottom of the scroll feet; rear left foot with edge chips (but stable).
