From the Collection of Professor Roberto Severino, Washington, D.C. Robert Bellarmine (Italian, 1542-1621) was a cardinal and professor. He is best known for his role in the Counter-Reformation, as well as the Galileo affair which criticized the astronomer's belief that the Earth revolves around the sun.
Boards with moderate wear, head and tail of spine and corners rubbed; interior toned and foxed, worm trails at corners of several pages, some outer margins cut short, occasional ink marginalia or small loss, title page extended and re-margined, sticker residue on back paste-down; sturdy copy in good overall condition.
