Circa 1780, high grade mahogany veneers, cove molded lid and obverse with beautiful matched elliptical shell marquetry inlays, shaped brass escutcheon, lid opens to a crimson velvet ceiling, triple divided interior retaining mahogany lids and remnants of the original tin lining, the exterior side lifts to reveal a hidden storage drawer running length of underside, raised on ogee bracket feet.

Overall good estate condition; lids with some areas of veneer loss; a few minute areas of inlay loss to shells; tin lining with scattered areas of flaking; light wear to velvet; two unobtrusive veneer cracks to lift off side.
