Giuseppe Mazzolini was noted for his very fine copies of Old Master paintings and for his sensitive portraiture. He was a professional artist and was documented in the Diario di Roma of 1828 and in Dizionario illustrato dei Pittori, Disegnatori e Incisori Italiani Moderni e Contemporanei by A. M. Comanducci.

Minor age cracking, abrasion at upper edge and lower right corner, slight buckling to canvas at upper right.
