Late 19th or early 20th century, the first, a hexagonal jar with hand-painted iron red registrars at each side depicting phoenix and floral spray, and allover polychrome foliate decoration on a white ground, presented with conforming a carved wood cover and stand (10 in.); the second, a double gourd form teapot with underglaze cobalt hand painted with allover polychrome and gilt foliate decoration, some in low relief, featuring Japanese figures and a scroll motif, presented with a carved wood cover and stand (13 in.); neither marked.
From a Private Collection, Washington, D.C. The first, with hairlines to the underside, drilled base, minor flaking to rim; the second, repair to spout and handle, minor rubbing to overglaze decoration.
