circa 1900, hand-cranked, the brass bedplate with a cast Stella logo and numbered 2953; the latest of five patent dates present is February 2, 1897; the single comb with 76 visible teeth; the carved mahogany box has Stella on the lid's underside; the case front has a cast brass key hole escutcheon is carved with oak leaves and scrolled foliage; below is a two-pull drawer for discs; the whole is set on a conforming stand with compartments for discs; the doors on each are decorated with a carved lyre, slots for discs are within. A card "With Directions for The Stella Music Box" is included and is likely a reproduction.
Disc player 13-1/2 x 29-1/2 x 22-1/4 in.; the stand alone is 34-3/4 x 32 x 26 in.; together they are 48-1/2 x 32 x 26 in.
Private Collection, Raleigh, North Carolina Plays beautifully and was well-maintained; marks and some scratches to the case from normal use; minor chips are present; five wooden disc dividers within have losses; overall very good condition with a period disc cleaner and ready to light up your home with time-tested musical favorites.
