Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Early 20th century, in a "tumbling blocks" design made of pieced silk diamonds in various patterns, mounted on dark blue fabric covered board, in gold frame under Plexiglass.
28.5 x 36.5 in. framed dimensions
The absence of some of the silk in this piece reveals the technique of paper piecing, a method of basting fabric to paper to stabilize it before joining each piece together. Some of the paper used in this piece has old handwriting on it. Once the entire quilt top was created, the paper pieces would have been removed.
Complete or partial loss to some of the silk pieces; brittleness; discoloration; otherwise good estate condition.
