French Automaton "Little Girl with her Toys"

circa 1890s, attributed to Leopold Lambert, bisque head marked "SH 1039/ 7DEP" with blonde natural curly wig, blue glass eyes with mohair lashes, painted features including an open mouth displaying four porcelain teeth, cardboard torso with wire neck, thighs, and upper arms, mounted upon a tapestry covered wooden base with glass cloche dome. An original paper label, denoting two musical tunes, can be seen attached to the base beneath the tapestry. Beside the doll is a paper mache donkey and braided crop.

Doll 18 in.; base 4 x 15 x 15 in.; Protective glass dome 15 x 14 x 14 in.

Automaton in working condition with some occasional jolts; appropriate later clothing (original attire accompanies the doll); replaced bisque arms; later Japanese toy doll; restoration to the donkey; later box covering and box feet.
