Formerly in the collection of Loran O'Neal of Avon North Carolina.

This small sandpiper was found in the marsh near the village of Avon by Loran O'Neal in the 1920s. The form and paint application are typical of the 1900s shorebird decoys carved on the Outer Banks.

Original paint with moderate gunning wear, corrosion to iron bill.
