Frank Virgil Dudley was a popular landscape artist who exhibited frequently at the Hoosier Salon and the Chicago Galleries Association. He maintained a studio in what is now the Indiana Dunes State Park. In addition to landscape painting, he was a leader in the conservation of the dunes along the shore of Lake Michigan.
