Late Edo or early Meiji period, 19th century, extremely large charger beautifully hand painted with lush trees in garden settings full of auspicious motifs such as: plum, bamboo, chrysanthemums, pine, pairs of birds, and a long tailed tortoise, against a ground of textile patterns, the exterior hand painted in blue with birds and flowers above a swirl border around the foot rim, kiln spur marks to underside, comes together with carved wooden display stand.
