Meiji period (1868-1912), includes twelve identically decorated black lacquered wood stands with gold maki-e of flowers and vines, meant to holder a Japanese screen byobu open for display.

13 in., 1 5/8 in. diameter

Wear and discoloration to lacquer; some chips and nicks with loss to surface; one with repair to lower section; a few with remains of sticky clear adhesive to underside of foot.
