Meiji period (1868-1912), carved hardwood panels with intricate pierced foliate carvings above and below central panels, faux grain paint and gilt highlights, central panels with four figures dressed in Heian period fashion presented in ivory and bone inlays against a moriage gold ground, decorated to reverse with gilt foliate painted panels of flora.
