Being high relief proof strikes by the Italian State Mint that commemorate the five years Pope John XXIII was in office; each medal is 44mm in diameter and contains 67 grams of .917/1000 gold, bringing the total gold content of the set to 10 ounces. The medals are presented in a handsome lidded box of leather, velvet and satin. Included is the set's original full color brochure with photographs and explanations of the reverse subjects.

The box is 1-1/2 in. high x 7-5/8 in. wide and 6 in. deep.
