Paul Hee was a noted maritime painter who lived and painted in Beaufort, North Carolina. After a career in the US Navy and as a cruise ship executive, Hee studied art with Leo Stitsky of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He found inspiration in the work of Antonio Jacobsen and spent much time researching vintage American and British ships to accurately depict them in his paintings.

Hee presented two shows at the NC Maritime Museum and also exhibited his work in galleries in Rhode Island, Connecticut and North Carolina.

The German steamship Cimbria was built for the Hamburg American Line and made her maiden voyage to New York on April 13, 1867. In 1878, she anchored for six months in Southeast Harbor, Maine, with 700 officers and men from the Russian Imperial Navy. The ship and men were at the ready to prey upon British commerce on America's shore, should the tensions between England and Russian rise to war. Once the threat of war between the countries was over, Cimbria returned to her regular route until sinking in 1883.

Good estate condition.
