Chincoteague, Virginia, circa 1930, carved and painted wood, tack eyes.

Length 17 in.

From an Eastern Shore, Virginia Collector

Doug Jester carved simple yet very effective decoys. They all seem to have nostril and mandible carving which give them a wonderfully folksy look. Canvasbacks by him are rare. This early high head example was made from cedar.

Second coat of gunning paint, age check on left side and bottom.
