From an Eastern Shore, Virginia Collector

Former collection of Bill Mackey.

This early yellowlegs is attributed to be from the hunting rig of famous Chincoteague shorebird hunter Dan "Squealer" Whealton (1858-1943). Dan was still shooting shorebirds at the age of 82, years after it was outlawed. This decoy has an incised W brand.
