John Charles Terelak was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He studied, and later taught, at Vesper George School of Fine Art. He served as headmaster of the Gloucester Academy of Fine Art before devoting his career to painting full time with a studio in Rockport.

Terelak is known as one of America’s greatest living impressionist artists. His subjects vary from city scenes to bucolic landscapes, all created with a joy and technique mastered over the years. Working primarily in oils, Terelak builds his images through numerous layers of paint and glazes.

His paintings have been exhibited widely and at such prominent museums as the National Academy of Design, Butler Institute of American Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Minor abrasions to frame; overall in good estate condition.
