Mid-Atlantic, circa 1820, each chair with a double shaped horizontal splat and scrolled stiles, caned seat, saber front legs, down-swept rear legs, front turned and shaped stretcher, all over gold and black paint with acanthus leaf and rosette to the back splat, faux figured maple field.

32.5 x 17.5 x 19.5 in., seat height 17.5 in.

Later cane seats (two with breaks); paint wear and loss throughout; one chair with break and repair at upper crest; one chair with loose (but stable) rear seat rail; one chair with break and repair to rear seat rail at stile joint.
