Mid-Atlantic, circa 1830-40, the first a side chair featuring a triple horizontal back (the central being pierced), flared stiles, balloon rush seat, convex front stretcher rail, turned front legs in a mustard field with gold and black paint featuring urn and swag motifs (33.75 x 18.5 x 16.5 in., seat height 17.5 in.); the second a rocking chair shaped concave upper splat, pierced central splat with oval medallion and ball support, balloon rush seat, turned front legs, convex front stretcher rail with ball motif, shaped rockers, having an all overall mustard faux grain paint with fruit and floral decoration (30 x 17.5 x 24.5 in., seat height 16 in.).
