Attributed to Baltimore or Philadelphia, circa 1760-80, robust carving featuring a shaped and scrolled crest rail with central relief carved shell and scrolled ears, intricate pierced scrolled crest rail with volutes, heart and diamond motif, molded shoe, molded flush seat rail, slip seat, the front rail with relief carved shell, through tenon construction to rear legs, cabriole front legs with shell carved knee and bold triffed foot, down-swept rear leg with beveling at each corner.
