Third quarter 19th century, attributed to Edward Upton, the verso framing retains period paper mount ink inscribed painted by E. Upton /Ea[s]ton Place / Ea[s]ton Square, presented behind glass in a period rosewood frame with attractive carved and gilt wood interior frame with gilt matting.

From a Private Collection, Washington, D.C. The Royal Trust Collection lists a portrait of Colin Campbell, Lord Clyde (1792-1863) by Edward Upton (active 1855). The National Portrait Gallery also lists a miniature portrait of the British painter William Edward Frost (1810-1877) that is signed "E. Upton" in their
Early Victorian Portraits Catalogue.
