Painted in 1833, watercolor on ivory, both mounted on board and one retaining blind-stamp 'Turnbull Superfine London Board,' the gentleman inscribed to verso [?] C. Hamburger / Miniature - Painter. / 14 King-sh. Covent Garden / London. / 2 Marine Terrace / Brighton ' Dec' 7 1833. The presumed spouse initialed C. H. to upper left, and pencil inscribed to board verso "52 / Great Marlborough / London," both presented behind glass in period ormolu mounting, within later matching wood frames.
