Hillary Osborn spent childhood summers on Cape Cod where her family history is traced back to the whaling industry on Martha's Vineyard or up in Muskoka, Canada. Her great Uncle Lowrie Warrener (Canadian, 1900-1983) was a well-known abstract modernist painter, whose studio the artist visited as a child.

She holds a master's degree in fine arts from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, and attended the New York Studio School, studying under Graham Nickson and John Dubrow. Influenced by Fairfield Porter and Richard Diebenkorn, she is primarily a plein-air landscape painter. She is an artist member of the Copley Society in Boston.

After ten years of painting in Provincetown and showing her work in New York City, Hillary Osborn maintains a studio in Famouth, Massachusetts. In addition to actively painting outdoors and doing commission work, Hillary teaches and lectures on the subject of art.
