Circa 1800, watercolor on ivory, unsigned, the lady attired in white dress with conforming headscarf, against a cloud filled sky background, presented in a fine gilt locket case, the verso aperture retaining plaited hairwork and lock within a gilt bezel and radial blue enameled foiled glass surround.
Miniature 3 x 2 1/2 in.; Case 4 x 2 3/4 in.
From a Private Collection, Washington, D.C. Miniature with two tight hairline to far right perimeter, some light rubbing to upper hair and scarf; not examined out of the case; blue glass with chip and associated hairline.
