Watercolor on ivory, signed "(illegibly) pinx. 1803," the sitter is a dark-haired gentleman with brown eyes and pensive expression, attired in dark frock coat with white cravat, rendered against a gray background, presented behind glass in a cast brass locket frame.

Miniature 2 1/4 x 1 7/8 in.; Locket 3 3/8 x 2 5/8 in.

Some rubbing and possible later retouch to the left background, and right perimeter; some denting to locket frame.
