A Japanese Two Drawer Katana Tansu

Late Edo period, 19th century, pine and mixed woods, dovetailed case with metal mounts, the front with an ume kamon (plum family crest) above a metal fitting with double gourds, two long drawers with shaped feet from the solid.

Old surface with indents and wear from use; shrinkage cracks to back boards (but appears stable).
