20th century, very nicely carved figures of the Chinese mythical beast referred to as
qilin, a legendary hooved chimerical creature that appears in Chinese mythology, and is said to appear with the imminent arrival or passing of a sage or illustrious ruler, they have scaled bodies, hooves, a lion face, and single horn on their heads, this pair is inset with glass eyes.
