A Raisin in the Sun, Hansberry's first play, appeared on Broadway in spring 1959 at the Ethel Barrymore Theater. It won the New York Drama Critics Circle award that year, and it was nominated for numerous Tony awards including best play (Hansberry, 1960). In 1961 it was made into a film with the original Broadway cast.

Corners mildly bumped, spine with light scuffing and wear at ends, minor residue in joints; very slight separation from text block, pages lightly toned with slight offsetting and minor grime at endpapers, expected offsetting at title; unclipped jacket with light scuffs, edgewear, and several small tears at head, interior toned, spine tanned and slightly creased.
