Wallace Henry Thurman (1902-1934) was an important contributor to the Harlem Renaissance through his novels, plays, and editorial projects. The Blacker the Berry was his first novel.

Boards with light scuffing and staining, edgewear, and slight separation from text block, corners bumped, spine very slightly cocked with creases and wear at ends including fraying and closed tears; library stamps on first and last free endpapers, small tear at free endpaper, occasional cracking at gutter; pages lightly toned with occasional offsetting and light crease, mark, or grime, overall the interior is clean and unmarked. A good or better copy of this influential novel, lacking extremely scarce jacket.
