Oil on canvas (lined) and laid on masonite, signed at lower left, presented in a contemporary painted frame.

Stretcher size 25 x 32 in.; Frame dimensions 33 1/2 x 40 1/2 in.

Constantin Alexandrovitch Westchiloff was born in Russia and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. In 1919, he exhibited at the First Free State Exhibition in Petrograd. He was active in theatre design at the Petrograd Technical Institute and traveled extensively as an artist in Europe and the United States. He eventually settled in New England and is known for his seascapes of the New England coastline. He also painted landscapes, portraits, figures, and genre subjects.

The painting has been lined with fiberglass, a repaired hole to the upper left corner, allover age cracking, a few minor flakes and areas of abrasion (some with associated retouching), yellowing varnish.
