The first gazetteer in the U.S. according to Howes and Sabin. With maps by Scott, including a large map of the United States, and maps of Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, New Jersey, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, S.W. Territory, Vermont, Virginia, and a very early map of N.W. Territory.

A sturdy volume with boards scuffed, light edgewear, and corners bumped; spine and joints creased, cracking starting at tail of rear joint, one wormhole at tail of spine, and with label somewhat worn; ownership signatures and writing on endpapers, blank, and P5 verso, endpapers frayed and chipped with some damp staining and staining from binder's glue, first free endpaper completely detached, second free endpaper partially detached; large map of U.S. complete but quite tattered with large tears and (2) repairs, remaining maps generally in very good condition; pages and maps toned with scattered light to moderate foxing and offsetting, and with occasional light grime, small tear/stain/chip, corner loss, frayed edge, and small damp stain; a couple of leaves with slight thinning to paper. A good copy for its age.
