Brian Portman studied at the Rhode Island School of Design where he was an
European Honors Fellow. He received the Anna Giles Kimber Travel Grant from the Dallas Museum of Art. Brian instructed at the Glassell School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and has given seminars for the museum's education
department.

He has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally. In 2010, he was
featured in Catherine D. Anspon's book "Texas Art Today". He is represented by
Meredith Long & Co. Houston, Texas, and his works are in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Dallas Museum of Art, Walker ArtCenter and Museo Culterdad, Mexico City.
