David Macbride (Ireland, 1726-1778) was a writer and lecturer on medicine. His Experimental Essays were first published in 1764. The book contains five essays covering topics such as fixed air (carbon dioxide), scurvy, and quick-lime. He famously advocated for the use of malt as a cure for scurvy.

Boards with expected age wear including bumped corners, light edgewear, and chips to leather, spine rubbed, joints rubbed with some cracking although still quite sturdy; light cracking at rear hinge, first free endpaper with tiny losses at inner margin, Holy Cross College stamp, and corner loss; writing on title page and another page with a small ink mark; interior very lightly toned and foxed with occasional small area of grime/stain, and edge chip/fraying; frequent faint damp staining at margins (heavier at final folding plate), second folding plate with small tear. A good to very good copy of this interesting medical title.
