Early 20th century, to include a painted ceramic papoose sheathed in grasses and wrapped with twine (10-1/2 in.); a carved deer horn implement (10-1/2 in.); several lengths of beads strung with intermittent shells (longest is 12 feet).

From the family collection of Indian Agent Charles Edwin Kelsey (1861-1936). Kelsey was highly regarded for having "...written extensively and eloquently on the practical and moral obligation of the government to redress the atrocious wrongs suffered by California Indians."

The doll and horn are intact; some of the bead strings are partial or have losses.
