Flavius Josephus (37-100 CE) was born and raised in Jerusalem. He was an historian best known for writing
The Jewish War in ca. 75 CE; this and his other works provide important information about Jewish history and early Christianity, and their popularity led to their translation into several languages.
This edition includes (3) plates by William Blake.
Light wear to boards including some age wear to leather, scratches, light edgewear, several stains, minor insect damage, corners slightly bumped and with repairs; minor cracking at front hinge, small wormholes early in volume, front free endpaper with small repairs; pages lightly toned with occasional damp stain (concentrated at the beginning and end of the volume), tear, grime, and stain, with very rare spot of foxing; one large tear on E2 with partial repair, lacking one engraved map and final free endpaper, plan of Jerusalem with several small tears and chips, one large tear at vertical fold, and fraying at top edge with slight loss to text. A very good volume overall with most pages quite clean and crisp.
