British School (19th century), Two Miniature Portraits of Gentlemen

Watercolor on ivory, the first of a gentleman in profile, attired in fur-lined coat, yellow waistcoat and high collared shirt, architectural setting with blue sky passage, the backing retains card pencil inscribed "Alderson / Hull / April 1825 (miniature 3 x 2 1/2 in.); the second of a dark-haired gentleman with blue eyes, unsigned, circa 1835, attired in black jacket, black waistcoat, high collared white shirt with black neck tie, seated against a red curtain (3 1/8 x 2 3/4 in.). Both presented behind glass in period ebonized frames with ormolu bezel and hanger.
