Ezekiel Midgett was born and raised in Kitty Hawk Village. Russ Twiford, a prominent attorney from Elizabeth City remembers his father, Clifford Twiford talking about Ezekiel's decoys, "I was told by my father that Ezekiel was considered to be one of the better decoy carvers about the time he was born in 1895. He was later given one of his decoys which was passed on to me. Ezekiel's decoys were finely carved out of juniper and my father remembered them being used in Nags Head."
