Reuben S. Fulcher owned and hunted one of the oldest shorebird decoys stands in Carteret County. He lived on Stacy Loop Road at the mouth of Fulchers Creek. Reuben's shorebird decoys were full bodied with long wooden bills. These shorebird decoys were passed down to his grandson Clen Mason. Mason sold these decoys to Julian Hamilton, Sr. in the 1950s. There are two known Reuben Fulcher decoys known and they are possibly the oldest known from Carteret County.

Original with most paint worn to bare wood, hit by shot, corrosion and wood loss to the breast, head is loose but intact. Dr. Lynn Wiggs x-rayed this decoy and determined the head is original to the body. Photography stand does not convey.
