Lot Details & Additional Photographs
Churches Island, North Carolina, circa 1930, carved and painted wood, published on page 160 of Gunnin' Birds by Kroghie Andresen.

Length 13 in.

From the Personal Collection of Mr. Kroghie Andresen, Charlotte, North Carolina

Purchased from Neal Conoley in 1986.
Neal Conoley purchased this decoy in 1981 from Earnest Brickhouse, who at the time was the ferry boat operator from Currituck to Knotts Island.
From the hunting stand of Frank Carter of Coinjock, North Carolina.

Frank Carter, a Coinjock hunter, had a decoy stand which included 75 Burgess coots. There were as many as six different head positions making them look like a real flock of live coots. The leaning head coots such as this example are the scarcest.

Old gunning paint, stable crack in head.
