The Currituck Shooting Club was founded in 1857 by wealthy businessmen from New York. It was the first gunning club formed in the United States. The wealthy sports brought the finest available decoys most of which were made by Long Island carvers. This early canvasback was made by a Carman family member.

Original paint, keel was removed, age check in the body at the tail.
