William Currie wrote numerous books on diseases such as cholera and yellow fever that were impacting Philadelphia specifically and the U.S. more generally in the late 18th and early 19th century.

Some scuffing and peeling to leather, with mild edgewear and corners rubbed, spine with sticker remnants above label and chipping and rubbing at head, joints lightly rubbed and creased; cracking at hinges, bookplate of "Gordon W. Jones, M.D. Falmouth, Virginia" on front paste-down, ownership signatures on first free endpaper and title; leaves overall crisp and clean with light to moderate toning, light scattered foxing (heavier at endpapers and final few leaves), small damp stains at outer margin beginning at p. 201, and occasional small stain or edge chip or tear; one page with margin loss not impacting text, one with pencil writing. A good to very good copy.
